Edgewater Studio

Edgewater Studio is a Project Studio, not a professional studio.  What's the difference?  It basically boils down to facilities, equipment, and services offered.  Professional studios spend hundreds of thousands of dollars on a wide range of equipment and even more on very large facilities with several individual studio rooms, or isolation rooms, designed to meet varying recording needs.  Professional studios offer the most services for the widest variety of customers.  For the past few years Project Studios, such as Edgewater Studio, have begun to replace professional studios for a large majority of the niche recording market, targeting the market in which they specialize.  Project Studios use the same equipment as the professionals, just not as much of it.  Project Studios are typically located in homes or smaller facilities, and may be limited to one or two studio rooms or isolation rooms.  While this means they can not, nor do they desire to offer all of  the same services the professional studios offer, it also means you may  find project studios to be a much more comfortable, relaxed, and more desirable environment in which to record.  One of the greatest benefits is the fact that since we don't have as much of an investment, we can afford to charge you much less for our services. Edgewater Studio is a project studio designed to record smaller groups and ensembles.  We have converted approximately 1000 sq. ft. of our home into multi-purpose rooms, most of which are designed to be acoustically neutral.  We are currently in the process of remodeling one of the rooms to be acoustically livelier for drums, horns, etc.

Is a Project Studio as good as a world-class professional studio?

To answer that question, let me tell you what Dave Grohl, Grammy Award winner for Best Album, said while accepting his award.  "This is a great honor, because this record was a special record for our band.  Rather than go to the best studio in the world down the street in Hollywood, and rather than use the fanciest computers that money can buy, we made this record in my garage with some microphones and a tape machine.  To me, this award means a lot, because it shows the human element in music is what is important." At Edgewater Studio we offer the full production from start to finish.  We record your music, mix it down to your preferences, then master your music to give it that extra polish or shine.  Your CD or MP3 will be complete and ready for distribution.  We also have access to several very talented studio musicians who are available for accompaniment, orchestration, etc.
